Hello Dear Friends and Family. It is devastating to announce that my beautiful sister Melissa is facing a rough road and needs our support as she faces a frightening breast cancer diagnosis.

Diagnosis was a shock. This truly is unsettling and life-changing.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of canceling commitments, thinking of the future, and absorbing a tremendous amount of information. It’s also been the start of a journey of acceptance of this new challenge and reality. As Lissy processes this diagnosis. Her outlook is impressive, not feeling sorry for herself but absorbing all information in a logical and rational way as it comes. She focuses on one step at a time. She is committed to staying healthy.

Lissy is finding outstanding support within the Breast Cancer Center at Redcliffe and her breast cancer nurse.

Surgery is scheduled this week. She will be having a mastectomy. If no further cancer is detected, Melissa will need to allow a month of healing before beginning radiation treatments/chemo.

Since receiving her diagnosis, Melissa has been forced to cancel all current and future plans and her job, including a position in which she was quite excited about. Unfortunately she was in a casual position and once she told them of her cancer diagnosis they let her go. This has abruptly ended her income stream for a minimum of several months or longer. Duration is currently unknown.

All funds from this campaign will be used to help support Lissy with her favorite foods, coffee and any bills that may arise. Any amount will be appreciated.

Melissa has not asked for a Go Fund Me, but we’ve been through so much together especially over the last few years. She has been through hell and back. She has worked so hard over the last 12 months with becoming clean, getting a job, becoming a fitness freak (has lost at least 20kgs) im so proud of her. This just seems so unfair.

After talking her through her 1st week of shock, it was clear to me that she will need all the love and support. With existing emotional and mental strain, even though she doesn’t show it to the world, it shouldn’t be compounded by financial struggles.
