Our beautiful friend Mei, who is one of the brightest, most free-spirited souls you will ever meet, recently faced something none of us could have imagined. She experienced a sudden seizure that revealed a brain cavernoma requiring major brain surgery. Overnight, her entire world changed.
The surgery was serious, and the recovery ahead is careful and deliberate. While she is healing well, doctors have advised a temporary pause on physically demanding work as her brain recovers fully.
As many of you know, Mei is a highly skilled welder and metal artist. Her hands, creativity, and craftsmanship are her livelihood, and they remain very much intact. This pause is temporary, and with time and healing, she fully intends to return to her work when it is safe to do so. This fundraiser is not a reflection of her long-term ability or commitment to her craft, but rather a short-term bridge to support her during recovery.
What makes this moment especially difficult is that Mei is uninsured. The emergency seizure care, ambulance transport, brain surgery, ICU stay, scans, medications, and follow-up therapies have resulted in overwhelming medical bills at a time when she cannot yet return to full work.
Mei gives endlessly.
She is the person who shows up, loves loudly, creates fearlessly, and makes every space warmer just by being in it. She has poured her heart into her art and into the people around her. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
How your support helps:
• Medical bills from her emergency seizure care and brain surgery
• Follow-up appointments, medications, and rehabilitation therapies
• Rent, groceries, and daily living expenses during her recovery
• Peace of mind so she can focus fully on healing
If you know Mei, you love her. If you’ve been touched by her kindness, her humor, her creativity, or her art, this is a chance to give some of that love back.
Please donate if you’re able, and share if you can. Every contribution helps lift a heavy burden and brings her closer to healing without the added weight of financial stress.
Let’s support Mei through this chapter so she can return strong, steady, and inspired to the work and life she loves.
Thank you for loving her with us.
