Some places are more than just buildings. They are safe havens. They are places where families find understanding, children feel accepted, and parents finally feel that they are not alone. Sensory FIT was one of those places.
For families raising children with autism and sensory needs, finding a place where their children can feel comfortable, included, and free to be themselves can be incredibly difficult. Sensory FIT was more than a gym. It was a community built on acceptance, compassion, understanding, and love. It provided a space where children could move, play, explore, and grow without the pressure of having to fit into a world that doesn't always understand them. For so many families, Sensory FIT was a place where they belonged.
Behind this special place is Megan, a woman who poured her heart, time, energy, and resources into creating something truly meaningful. She didn't just build a gym; she built a community. She created a place where families could feel supported, where children could be themselves, and where differences were embraced rather than judged. Her mission was bigger than business. It was about making a difference in the lives of children and families who deserved a place of their own.
Unfortunately, through no fault of Sensory FIT, repeated water leaks and flooding caused extensive damage, lost revenue, unexpected expenses, and multiple closures. Each incident brought new challenges, financial setbacks, and uncertainty. Yet time and time again, Megan fought to recover, rebuild, and reopen. Despite the setbacks, she remained determined to keep the doors open for the families who depended on Sensory FIT. She refused to give up on something she had worked so hard to create.
Megan never wanted to close Sensory FIT. She wanted to stay, to keep serving families, and to continue providing a safe and welcoming space for children.
But after enduring repeated flooding, the emotional and financial strain became overwhelming. The constant fear of another water incident, combined with concerns for the safety of the children, families, and staff, made continuing increasingly difficult. After fighting so hard for so long, Megan was faced with the heartbreaking decision to close the doors.
Megan continues to face significant financial losses, mounting legal fees, and ongoing battles over insurance claims. She is left trying to navigate the financial consequences of circumstances she did not cause, all while carrying the emotional weight of losing something that meant so much to her and to the community she built.
Megan is not someone who easily asks for help. She has spent years being the person who shows up for others, creating opportunities, offering support, and giving families a place where they could feel understood. Now, it is our turn to show up for her.
This is why supporting Megan and Sensory FIT matters.
Every donation, no matter the amount, can help ease the financial burden of the losses, recovery expenses, and legal fees she continues to face. Every contribution is a reminder that the work Megan did mattered, that the families she helped have not forgotten her, and that the community she created is still standing behind her.
Even if you cannot donate, sharing her story can make a difference. You never know who might see it, who might be able to help, or how far a small act of kindness can reach.
that every child deserves a place to belong.
Let's come together for Megan the way she came together for so many of us. Let's remind her that she is not alone, that her dedication has made a lasting impact, and that the community she worked so hard to build still cares.
