Hi my name is Dani McCormick-Oversby and I have been best friends with Megan Vincent since 6th grade. I am writing this on behalf of Jen Ludwig, Bekah Yates and myself.
On Friday, October 17th, Megan was experiencing intense abdominal pain and went to the emergency room. The doctors quickly discovered a large mass in the ultra sound and went on to do further tests, one being a colonoscopy. The colonoscopy confirmed, the large mass and the possibility of cancer.
To know Meg, is to love Meg. Whether you met her in first grade at Sacred Heart or sat at her bar while she not only served you with great drinks and food, but hilarious jokes and humor. Megan is the type of friend EVERYONE is friends with. Megan knows no strangers.
She is welcoming, kind, a listener, loyal and can flip you crap like she is the president of a frat house. Megan is a single mother to her 11 year old son Weston, and everything she does, she does for him. She works two jobs to provide for Weston and send him to the same Catholic schools she once attended herself, Sacred Heart and eventually, Bishop Kelly High School.
Jen, Bekah and myself have had the pleasure of having Meg as one of our best friends for most of our lives. She is the greatest best friend to us and to every friend she meets. You can't leave time spent with Meg, without a happy heart, huge smile and sore cheeks from laughing. She is a one in a million type friend, who needs all her friends at this challenging time.
Megan will be undergoing surgery today, November 10th, removing the mass and some of her colon, meaning she will be out of work while she heals. Most likely being in the hospital up to a week. As many of you know, Megan has been in the service industry most of her life, making missing shifts difficult in a time of financial distress. At this time her doctor is very optimistic about her prognosis and Megan herself is in high spirits. Whatever you can do to help our dear friend and her son, is greatly appreciated beyond measure. The three of us ask that you please do not overwhelm Megan with messages, as we want her to focus on herself and Weston. Thank you for being a good friend, to our best friend.
Meg, you've got this, we love you & soooo many people love you. Now go kick ASS!!!! Preferably right in the colon!
With Love,
