Megan is facing some tough times ahead. On November 7, Megan was rushed to the emergency room with chest pains and shortness of breath. She was diagnosed with myocarditis, an inflammation of her heart. After a week in the hospital, she was discharged only to return back to the ER a few days later for a life-threatening blood clot. Megan fought to get better and was discharged a few days before Thanksgiving. Megan, however, can’t seem to catch a break. Instead of Thanksgiving with her children, resting and recovering, she was rushed back to the hospital on the day before Thanksgiving with abdominal bleeding caused by the blood thinner medications she was placed on. She is still at the hospital and just received news from her cardiologist that her heart is only performing at 10-20%. She was told that if her heart does not improve within three months, she will need a defibrillator and will be placed on the heart transplant list. Megan is in her early 40s and too young to have such a debilitating heart condition.
Megan MacLean Tichy is vibrant, single mom of three beautiful kids. Megan is a well-loved and respected Chemistry Professor at Santa Clara University. She is kind and giving, always the first to help others. She is the sole provider for her three kids and her parents. Megan has always been a rock for everyone around her, giving so much of herself to others. Despite all her struggles and hardships, she always has a beautiful smile and kind word for everyone.
She is used to doing everything by herself, raising her three kids, helping and supporting her aging parents, volunteering at her children’s school. But even superheroes need help and support. Medical costs are mounting, she will need time off from work in the next six months to recover, and money is tight. All funds raised will be used for medical costs, treatments, medication, groceries, meals, rides and daily upkeep of life for her and her children. Let’s show Megan how much we love and support her!
