Help Meagan Reclaim Her Life!

Hello, we are Rose and Isa, reaching out with love and hope on behalf of our incredible friend, Meagan (affectionately known as Bean, her Kesem camp name). With her permission, we're here to share her story and seek your support through this GoFundMe campaign.

Meagan's life journey has been marked by resilience in the face of adversity, kindness in the midst of hardship, and an unwavering spirit that inspires everyone lucky enough to know her.

The Struggle Behind the Smile:

From losing her mother to cancer at a young age to surviving a deeply abusive family environment, Meagan's challenges have been relentless. Despite these obstacles, she flourished at Chapman University, forming lifelong friendships and making a significant impact as Co-Director of Chapman's Kesem chapter, supporting kids through and beyond a parent’s cancer. However her untreated trauma, highlighted through physical and mental health struggles, has resurfaced these past few years with a vengeance. A difficult but brave decision to sever ties with her father left her finally able to live outside of a very abusive situation, yet without financial support (including health insurance), further complicating her journey to healing.

In her bravest moment, Meagan sought help, only to be met with systemic barriers that have denied her the specialized trauma treatment she desperately needs. Her battles with fibromyalgia and undiagnosed, debilitating, multi-systemic physical symptoms; complex post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); the lack of a trauma-informed court system; and the aftermath of a life-threatening crisis have shown us the stark gaps in our healthcare system, especially for those fighting health battles without traditional resources.

A Call to Action for Meagan:

Meagan is not alone! Today, we stand together to support Meagan's fight for a life without debilitating physical and mental health struggles. The road to recovery is clear from every provider she has seen: Meagan needs trauma focused treatment. She's been trying to get this for many years but without great insurance and traditional resources, she's been further traumatized while trying to find healing without access to a trauma-informed and focused program. She finally has found herself at a program that is trauma focused, but she needs support taking care of her basic needs so she can stay and complete the program. Due to all that she’s been through, her current PTSD and physical symptoms are so severe she cannot function in a job or finish school so this treatment is not a luxury, it's a necessity. With this treatment we hope she can finally finish school and secure a job, eventually leading to her being able to reach her goal of going to graduate school and becoming a therapist to support those in similar situations as what she’s been through.

We are seeking money for only her basic necessities so she can focus on healing because otherwise, she cannot continue with this program.

This is where we, as a community, can step in to fill the gap where systems have greatly failed. Your donation can directly contribute to securing the treatment Meagan needs to heal and thrive: allowing Meagan to focus on all that the program provides, without having to spend every hour trying to figure out where to sleep and how to afford food, transportation, etc. No amount is too small, and every gesture of support brings her one step closer to a brighter tomorrow.

Donate: Every contribution helps us get closer to our goal of funding necessities for Meagan to receive PTSD treatment. These necessities include: housing near the treatment program, transportation, food, and all health costs (insurance, appointments, medications, etc.).
