Help Support Matthew Cordero

Donation protected
On Thursday, April 11th, 2019 my brother Matthew Cordero was admitted into the Emergency Room in Covina, Ca after suffering for three days of leg pain. He couldn’t walk and had already visited two different urgent care facilities days before. Matthew had visible dark blisters on his leg, it was extremely swollen, and they found major blood clotting. Doctors seen that the blood clots were growing, and he was rushed into ICU.

Matthew was diagnosed with a Flesh-Eating Bacteria called Streptococcus. It was moving severely fast and he went straight into surgery. When the surgeon opened up his leg, they found that the fast moving bacteria had already deteriorated his muscle tissue and his right leg needed to be amputated. The life threatening bacteria was already in his blood stream and he was given antibiotics in hopes that it would cease the virus.

After several surgeries, an abundance of blood transfusions, round the clock testing in blood, vital organs, the overall infection plus the opened wound of his amputated leg Matthew is still not out of the woods yet. The worst is over, but he is still fighting this relentless disease that is not yet 100% explainable in how he contracted this vicious bacteria in the first place.

Matthew is 35, the provider of his family of four (children ages 6 and 1), his spouse and family continue to be at his side in constant prayer and support. He continues to be his high spirited self and appreciates ALL the love and support he has received from family, friends and hospital staff. If you know Matthew, then you know that he is keeping POSITIVE and knows he will overcome this obstacle.

This is a long road ahead for Matthew, and his family but we believe and have faith in an outstanding recovery. There are several immediate and long-term needs for medical care and attention stacking up. Any support is greatly appreciated to help with the continuous monthly financial strain on his family and his road to a medical rehabilitation.
