My brother, Matt, has been courageously battling cancer for the past 8 years. Through countless surgeries, radiation treatments, and setbacks, he has faced each challenge with strength, faith, and determination. Even after radiation treatments, Matt would always head straight back to work as a dedicated teacher, pouring into his students and his family without complaint. He is an inspiration to everyone he knows with his unwavering faith through all of this and most recently losing our Dad to cancer. He flew back to be with Dad and help every chance he got even though he was going through all this himself and preparing for surgery. He truly is an inspiration to everyone he knows.
Recently, the fight has become even harder. After already facing cancer on his spine, lungs, and kidney, doctors discovered a spot in the right ventricle in his heart. He just began chemo, only to find out that there are now two more spots in his small intestines. This time, the treatments are too much for him to continue working. He will need to take at least three months off to focus fully on healing while going through chemo.
Matt is not only a teacher but also a loving husband and the proud father of three beautiful young children. He is the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help someone else, and now he is the one who needs support. Unfortunately, his insurance does not cover all of the medical expenses, with the treatments and time away from work it is overwhelming for the whole family.
