My name is Steve. I've known Ms. Mary and her son Shea my entire life as I grew up next door to them and developed a long-lasting friendship with Shea. Mary is a strong and loving mother, grandmother, and friend, is now facing the most difficult chapter of her journey. After bravely beating cancer in 2019, Mary’s cancer has sadly returned in 2025. They are currently preparing to be transitioned to hospice care so she can spend her remaining time surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Mary was born and raised in Baltimore and has spent the last 25 years raising her son, Shea, as a devoted single mother. Her greatest joy is being “Nana” to her granddaughter Hayley — the light of her life — and she cherishes every moment they have together.

With Mary’s condition, Shea has taken leave from work to be by her side full-time, providing care and support every day. As you can imagine, this has placed a heavy financial burden on the family.

We are setting up this GoFundMe to help cover household expenses, mounting medical bills, and most importantly, to honor Mary’s burial wishes with the dignity and grace she deserves when the time comes.
