Help Support Mark's Recovery

Donation protected
This fundraiser is for our dear friend and brother Mark Squitieri, aka mark_nyc_photo, marks_nyc_moto, Marks4303 or Markus Squiddy on various social media and photo sharing platforms.

On July 1, 2020, Mark experienced a sudden and unexpected brain aneurysm. Thank heaven his wife Maria was with him at the time, so he was immediately rushed to the hospital. More than likely this saved his life.

For five weeks, Mark was placed in a medically induced coma.  During that time, he suffered two strokes, went through several surgeries and was intubated.  The prognosis was not good from the doctors, but somehow Mark came out of sedation and started to breathe a little on his own.

Defying the odds through Maria's love, our prayers, excellent medical attention and his own stubborn will, Mark has been making great progress over the last month.  He is able to move both of his arms, one of his feet and can even mouth words.  He is also able to breathe on his own. The doctors are slowly finding out what he is able to do and where his challenges will be.

The road ahead is not going to be easy, and the lives of his family and those that love him have been changed forever. He is still in the hospital now, but we expect his next step will be a transfer to a rehabilitation facility that specializes in traumatic brain injury. We look forward to the day when he may return to his home and spend time with his family.

In addition to the medical costs that his family has incurred, their home will need some renovations to accommodate his physical and mental challenges.  The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money that will go directly into those costs and ease the financial burden that this amazing family has been dealing with.

If you know Mark, you know what a big heart he has.  Maybe you know him through his work as a service technician, through his love of motorcycles, through his passion for photography, or maybe you just know him from the neighborhood.  Regardless, he can always be counted on for a light hearted comment that will make you laugh, or a shoulder to lean on when you need advice.

Mark truly embodies the essence of what a giver is.  He’s always the first in line to help another, expecting nothing but a thanks in return. However, now is the time when he and his family are in need of your help.  If you’re in a position to, I ask that you show your gratitude in the form of a monetary gift that will mean more than you may even understand.

Please keep Mark and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
