Help Support Mark get to CPU National Championship
Donation protected
We have started this fundraiser in hopes of supporting our friend and fellow athlete, Mark Harris, travel to the Canadian Powerlifting Union National Championships in P.E.I. this September.
Mark is a dedicated student athlete and is a kind and friendly young man. You may know Mark from his involvement in the community. He has volunteered in coaching high school basketball and soccer and helps at the annual Terry Fox Run in Ladysmith.
Mark also works at the Anytime Fitness in Chemainus. When he isn’t working or training there, you’ll often find him making gym goers feel welcome and supporting other amateur powerlifters as they train.
In the last year Mark has honed his athletic training in Powerlifting. He has had the privilege of competing at the local, provincial, and regional levels. Mark is very gifted at powerlifting and placed in the top 4 at each event! He has the great combination of natural talent in this sport and pure grit to push himself. With support and opportunity, Mark is destined to dominate in Powerlifting and will go far in the sport.
With impressive lifting totals of over 1300lbs (!), Mark has his sights set on a new goal: compete at the national level, place in the top 5, and have a lifting total of over 1400lbs.
He has qualified to compete at the CPU National Championship, with the competition taking place in Summerside, P.E.I. this September. Mark is committed to going to this event and representing our community while still maintaining his job and attending university at VIU this fall. It’s a tall order but we believe Mark can achieve this with a bit of support around him.
Unfortunately, there is little funding available for amateur athletes. However, financial support from the community can go a long way to helping Mark in his athletic goals. A donation; large or small, would directly fund costs associated with traveling to, and participating in, the CPU National Championships in P.E.I.
The estimated budget to travel and participate in this competition is $5000. Any donation, would be very gladly appreciated.
Let’s help Mark get to the CPU National Championship and support him as he strives to reach his goals!!
Thank you!
P.S.! Any extra funds raised over and above the goal will be used towards helping Mark’s coach, Tyler Buck, attend the event, Mark's equipment costs and funding local sports in our area.
