Help Support Maria Settle in Nova Scotia
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Tara, and I am raising money to support Maria Bulich and her 10-year-old son to settle in Nova Scotia, as it is not safe to return to their country Ukraine.
Maria will be arriving in Nova Scotia at the end of the month and will be living in Berwick with her host family. I am hoping to raise enough to help with start-up costs as they start a life here in Nova Scotia. I reached out to Maria. Here is an excerpt of what Maria wrote as she started her process to come to Canada.
"Hello! Thank you Canadians, for your big heart! We are a small family of Ukrainians, mother and son. My name is Maria; my son is Vanya (Ivan). I am 31 years old; my son is ten years old. The war caught up with us when we were abroad, and we were about to return home to Ukraine. No one expected a war, we did not believe that such horror could come to us in the 21st century. We are at the finish line for visas to Canada.
I have worked for 9 years as a coordinator of international marketing research projects, I have good communication skills, organizational skills. I drew up routes, supervised the execution of works, payment. By education - I am a teacher of Ukrainian language (but did not work on a diploma), by second education - a psychologist-consultant (I have a certificate).
I worked as an HR manager, as a HR manager. Also, a little bit in IT recruiting.
We want to try to start a new life in Canada. Since I'm raising my son on my own, it may be a little harder for me. But he is already quite an adult boy."
I speak English quite well (I write worse). Vanya understands English well, is a little ashamed to speak. I understand that in a new country you will have to start life over. I am not lazy, I am purposeful, I learn quickly. I am able to learn languages (I studied French at school, but forgot). We are friendly and open.
I would like to work with children or adults, maybe at school, kindergarten, clinic, nursing home ... but I am ready for various jobs that will allow us to live. I also know how to work with my hands - in my life I have glued a lot of wallpaper, painted, plastered, even laid linoleum.
I am currently actively studying the geography of Canada, but I am confused. We are looking for a family or people who could help us for the first time until I get back on my feet - I will find a job that will allow us to rent a house, to feed ourselves."
There are always many costs associated with moves, and hopefully we can raise enough to help Maria and her son in Nova Scotia.
