Help support Margo Ward-Gray and family

My name is Samantha Hughes, and I was blessed to be a Team Mom for the Brighton Bulldogs Football Instructional team this year. Being a Team Mom I was mostly on the field with the players and coaches. I did meet some incredible families being Team Mom and am forever grateful for that. I have one family in particular that I have been praying for daily since our last game day, after I found out some devastating news.

As a Team Mom, all those little men on that field are my babies! I have watched them grow over the last 4 months from kids on the football field to tackling football players on that field! There is nothing in this world I wouldn’t do for my own babies, and after learning that one of my football babies has a mom suffering from a stroke, I knew my job as Team Mom wasn’t nearly over.

On our last day of practice, 10/20/22, Margo wasn’t feeling great, so her husband, Glenn, made the decision to take his wife in to be seen. She went into the E.R. and they found out that this young Mom had suffered some mini strokes! As you can imagine, this was definitely unexpected and is completely devastating to the family.

This young mom’s name is Margo Ward-Gray. Margo has the most AMAZING husband, Glenn, and he has done so much to make sure his wife is going to be safe coming home!

Margo can stand assisted and is gaining her strength back, but her left side is impaired at the moment. So she is unable to walk on her own and is still learning to use her hands fully and will need some things changed around the home to accommodate her needs, like handrails around the house and in the bathroom. Margo will be going to outpatient therapy 4 times a week. Transportation to and from therapy is not provided under insurance so Glenn will have to take time off work to make sure his wife is getting all the care she needs.

She's in good spirits, but upset she can’t move her arm or leg like before. I learned something interesting: the part of the brain where the stroke happened won't work anymore. The rest of your brain says, "HEY! Let me give that arm/leg control a chance!", etc. Then that part of the brain tries to learn how to do that for the first time. That's why healing can take so long!

I am creating a GoFundMe account to help cover medical and living expenses as Margo returns home. She will require months of intense physical therapy. We are asking for your generosity, support and prayers to help get her back on her feet until she is able to get back to work again.

Your generosity will support:

- transportation to and from therapy

- home renovations so that she can navigate in a wheelchair and use a walker

- a wheelchair

- I also came across this that I think would be a great tool for her: FitMi is the first home neurorehab device designed for recovery from head to toe. It helps you improve your ability to walk and use your affected side by exercising the full-body, including: Hands,Arms,Core,Legs.

- BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will be supporting a young mom regain her strength to once again become an active participant in her son's life.

For those of you who know Margo, you know that she is a kind and caring woman who would do anything to help a friend. Please help us get Margo home with access to the care and modifications that she needs to resume her life as a loving mom and wife.
