Hi everyone, I know it's close to Xmas and everyones $$ is tight but I'm trying to organise a worthy fundraiser for an awesome family in Whyalla who have received some devastating news. One of Malinas health complications is the only one known WORLDWIDE. Michael and Mickaela know that im organising this fundraiser and have also sent me some information on this worthy cause.
✨ Help Support Malina’s Journey: Our Brave Little Fighter ✨
Our beautiful daughter, Malina, was just 6 months old when we first noticed her having seizure-like symptoms. They became more and more frequent, and as parents, this instilled us with worry, fear, and many questions for our little girl.
We spent the next year attending many appointments and both planned and unplanned hospital trips to our nearest tertiary hospital (a 4-hour trip from our hometown) to get answers for Malina.
Now at 17 months old, after many hospital stays and tests, we have started to get some answers. Malina is medically complex with multiple rare and challenging conditions, including profound global developmental delay, epileptic encephalopathy, severe central sleep apnea requiring oxygen, a 15q11.2 deletion, and a KIF1A-related disorder. She is also neurologically blind, among several other conditions that impact her daily life.
Despite everything she faces, Malina radiates love. She is a gentle, beautiful soul who adores cuddles, soft voices, and being held close. She has brought an incredible amount of light into our lives—and into the lives of everyone who meets her.
Our Challenges
Malina requires constant care and frequent medical appointments, therapies, and hospital admissions. We are a one-income family, and my husband has had to take significant unpaid time off work to support me and be present for Malina during emergencies and long hospital stays. This has taken a heavy financial toll on us.
With each new diagnosis, we are reminded that our future is filled with many uncertainties. We’ve been told that Malina will likely be wheelchair-bound and may never walk or communicate verbally. While these realities are heartbreaking, our love and commitment to her are unwavering. We want to give her the best quality of life possible—comfort, connection, and every opportunity available to her.
Why We’re Asking for Help
We are reaching out for support to help us manage the financial strain that comes with caring for a medically complex child. Your generosity will help with:
* Travel expenses for appointments and hospital stays
* Lost income from unpaid time off work
* Unexpected emergencies and hospital admissions
Every donation—no matter the amount—helps lift some of the weight off our shoulders, allowing us to focus on what matters most: loving and caring for our daughter and two older sons.
Thank You
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read Malina's story. Your support means more than words can express. Whether you donate, share this page, or keep our family in your thoughts, we are deeply grateful.
Malina is our light, our fighter, and our inspiration. With your help, we can continue giving her the care, comfort, and love she deserves.
Thank you for helping us support our little warrior. ❤️
A special shout-out:
