Many of you know Belmont Police Department Investigator Lee Jamison, a valued member of our community. His daughter, Maddie, is facing a new challenge.

In July, Maddie went in for an MRI in Tupelo. Shortly after, her family was sent to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, where she was admitted and diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor—a grade 1 mass about the size of a ping pong ball—is located on the right side of her brain near the 4th ventricle and has caused significant swelling.

While the diagnosis was a shock, her medical team is optimistic. Maddie’s surgery to remove the tumor was on Tuesday, August 12, and her surgeon believes they removed it completely.. If all goes well, she’ll continue with regular MRI scans at St. Jude to monitor for any recurrence or growth.

Through it all, Maddie has shown incredible strength and grace. She understands as much as she can about what’s happening and is handling it with courage well beyond her years. Her family asks that she be treated just like normal—only with a little extra love along the way.
