Help Support Lyn Wermter's Recovery From Spinal Surgery

Hi, I'm Ben Wermter. I started this GoFundMe to raise money for my family. My Dad, Lyn Wermter, is undergoing an "L5-S1 anterior lumbar interbody fusion L5-S1 percutaneous pedicle screw fixation with arthrodesis", this translates to major spinal surgery. For the last several months he has been suffering from progressive and debilitating mechanical low back and bilateral lower extremity pain. We are expecting he will be out of work for 6-12 weeks. I am hoping to raise funds for my family to help cover medical expenses, including a high deductible and devices not covered by insurance, as well as lost wages.

During surgery, surgeons will use medical hardware-plates, rods, and screws-to hold the vertebrae together and help them naturally fuse over time. While this limits movement slightly, the relief from constant pain is worth the trade off. Recovery, however, is long and demanding, requiring months of rest, rehabilitation, and follow up care.
