Update from Brett and Jackie
Let me just start by saying how appreciative and loved we feel during this extremely hard time. This is the hardest thing we have ever encountered and we would have never ever imagined what was in store for us.
On February 3, we took Logan into the hospital for what we believed was just bad constipation. His poor tummy was so distended and he was in so much pain. At the time he didn’t have any other noticeable symptoms. We checked in to Little Company of Mary on Saturday only to find out that after some tests were done it was not constipation and that we needed to get transferred to Miller's Children's Hospital for further review.
We knew at this point that something was very wrong and that things were only going to get worse, but still we remained hopeful for some good news. Once we reached Millers Hospital, and after further testing, Logan was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
We are still in disbelief and heartbroken that our son is going to have such a hard and long road ahead of him. He will need to undergo multiple sessions of treatment. God willing, should everything go well, this may be a 3 year journey. Our first year of treatment will be the most intensive and this is when he will be the most immunocompromised. He will no longer be able to attend school. He loves everyone so much and is going to miss seeing all our friends and family tremendously. You all bring him so much love and joy.
This will be a huge adjustment for our family as we navigate daily life, all while keeping Logan as safe & healthy as possible.
