Support for Lisa and family

Donation protected
Dear friends, posting this update on behalf of Ronnie:

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lisa. Lisa was a bright spark in this world, our family angel, my beloved wife, Riley’s and Wyatt’s mommy. Lisa will be so deeply missed.

We want to thank everyone for all your kindness and support throughout Lisa's journey with terminal cancer. Thank you for checking up on us regularly, sharing food with us, demystifying and interpreting medical treatment plans, arranging play dates for and supporting Riley and Wyatt, helping us raise funds for medical bills, keeping us in your thoughts and prayers...every bit counted. It means more to us than words can say.

A small and intimate celebration of Lisa's life will be held in-person on Sunday, March 23rd. Please understand that while we would love to stay in connection with community, our family is in need of privacy and peace at this time. We welcome contributions of 白金 (BaiJin) - condolence funds, which will be used to cover funeral service costs, with any remainder going towards an education fund for Riley and Wyatt.

My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued support and love.

Sincerely,
Ronnie

Hello friends,

In late September of 2023, Lisa and Ronnie received the shocking news that Lisa was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. There was no way they could have known or predicted this - the news was sudden and utterly devastating. The form of cancer that Lisa has is a rare mutation and is incredibly aggressive. Doctors deemed it unviable to surgically remove the cancer. Instead, Lisa started chemotherapy in October and switched to the drug Herceptin in November. She also began intensive radiation therapy to treat the cancer that has spread to her brain.

Lisa has been fighting with all her might, "every moment of every day" as shared with me in her own words. Despite having gone through countless hospital stays, painful operations, and ongoing intensive treatments, Lisa has steadily turned toward love, hope, and joy. Witnessing the depth of her strength has been one of the greatest gifts in my own life.

The past 8 months have been a most challenging time for Lisa, Ronnie, and their loved ones. They are deeply thankful for Ronnie's parents who flew in from BC to stay for months with them in their Richmond Hill home, for Lisa's parents who also traveled from BC to be with her during some of the most difficult times in the early months, for Ronnie's brother, Lisa's brother Andrew and his wife Yi-Ting, and for all the love and care from their neighbours and friends.

It is Lisa and Ronnie's deepest wish for the family to have more time together with their beautiful children, Riley (4) and Wyatt (2). The cancer is continuing to spread, and Lisa has started to receive a new drug, Enhertu, on Feb. 5th. Enhertu is not currently covered by provincial healthcare and will cost the family $7500+ every three weeks. The cost of flights for their loved ones, whose presence mean so much to Lisa, has also been prohibitive. While they are managing the best they can, any/all support that is available will be so deeply appreciated. Donations to this GoFundMe will help cover treatments costs and provide the family some time to plan further ahead.

Despite the countless ways that the cancer has impacted her life, Lisa feels the loving care from her community deeply and does her utmost best to let others know how much she appreciates each and everyone of them. Thank you for being part of this loving community for Lisa and Ronnie.

Sincerest thanks,
Jean
