My name is Karin Taylor, and I’m writing on behalf of one of my best friends — Lindsay Salapow. If you live in Upper St. Clair, you probably know Lindsay. She’s the kind of person who lights up every room, a devoted mom, loyal friend, and someone who would literally give the clothes off her back to help another.

In early October 2025, Lindsay was diagnosed with systolic heart failure and advanced cardiomyopathy — a severe stage of heart muscle disease that weakens the heart’s chambers and limits its ability to pump blood effectively. This condition can lead to serious complications, including heart failure, stroke, or even sudden cardiac arrest.

Right now, Lindsay is on a rigorous medication plan over the next two months, with the hope that it will strengthen her heart enough for the next phase of treatment. Depending on her progress, this may involve a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) or even a heart transplant.

Due to her condition and the limitations it brings, Lindsay is unable to work and perform many of the daily tasks most of us take for granted. She is a loving mom to two sons — one preparing to enter medical school, and the other a college sophomore — both of whom mean the world to her.

As Lindsay focuses on her health, she is also facing mounting financial challenges — from medical bills and medications to everyday living expenses, mortgage payments, and college tuition.

That’s why Lindsay’s tribe of friends and family is coming together to support her during this incredibly difficult time. We’re asking our Upper St. Clair community — a place known for rallying around its own — to show Lindsay the same love and generosity she has shown so many of us.
