A loving message from Liam's mom and family:
To Liam’s amazing community—
We are overwhelmed. The outpouring of love — your pictures, your stories, your prayers, your generosity — has carried us more than you could ever know. The humanity we’ve witnessed has had us in tears over and over again. Thank you.
We also want to clarify something important. The GoFundMe was started with the belief that Liam was the victim of a hit-and-run. At this point, that has not been confirmed. We are beginning the process of gathering accurate information, and we hope to learn more in the coming days. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we seek the truth.
Yesterday, we were called into a meeting with the medical team. We believed we would be discussing plans for long-term care and next steps for his recovery. Instead, we were told that the damage to his brain had progressed overnight to a catastrophic and irreversible level.
We are devastated — but we know Liam. His heart has always been for others, and he will continue that legacy. We learned that he will possibly remain on life support until Sunday as the organ donation team prepares. Liam may be able to save up to 19 lives — and that gives our family comfort that his story doesn’t end here.
Because the situation has changed so drastically, so has the purpose of this fundraiser. Rather than supporting Liam in recovery, these funds will now help us:
• Pack up his life here in Arizona
• Ship his car home
• Cover our extended lodging and travel while we handle the many affairs of his passing
• Give us space and time to begin to heal and honor his memory
Your generosity is helping us shoulder a burden no family should face. We are humbled beyond words, and forever grateful that you loved our boy with such a wide and beautiful love.
Thank you for standing with us during the darkest hours of our lives.
With deepest gratitude,
The Coyle Family
