My cousin Leo was in a devastating motorcycle accident in Mexico while leaving work. He is now in the hospital with a broken leg that is affecting his circulation. The swelling is severe, and he urgently needs surgery.

But Leo wasn’t alone. His best friend was with him, and he suffered serious brain damage from the impact. He’s experiencing memory loss, refusing to eat, and has swelling in his brain that will also require surgery. Both of them are fighting a difficult and unexpected battle.

This tragedy came out of nowhere. No one was prepared. My family is incredibly close, and we are doing everything we can to support Leo — and we also want to be there for his best friend and his family. These two young men mean so much to the people who love them, and we just want to make sure they both have every chance to recover.

Leo is young, full of life, and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. His best friend is just as loved. Right now, they both need help, and so do our families as we navigate the shock, fear, and financial weight of something we never saw coming.

Mi primo Leo estuvo en un devastador accidente de motocicleta en México cuando salía del trabajo. Ahora está en el hospital con una pierna rota que afecta su circulación. La hinchazón es severa y necesita cirugía con urgencia.

Pero Leo no estaba solo. Su mejor amigo iba con él y sufrió daño cerebral serio por el impacto. Tiene pérdida de memoria, se niega a comer y hay inflamación en su cerebro que también requerirá cirugía. Ambos están luchando una batalla difícil e inesperada.

Esta tragedia llegó de un momento a otro. Nadie estaba preparado. Mi familia es muy unida y estamos haciendo todo lo posible para apoyar a Leo — y también queremos estar ahí para su mejor amigo y su familia. Estos dos jóvenes significan mucho para quienes los amamos, y lo único que queremos es darles la oportunidad de recuperarse.

Leo es joven, lleno de vida y una de las personas más amables que he conocido. Su mejor amigo es igual de querido. En este momento, ambos necesitan ayuda, y también nuestras familias, mientras enfrentamos el shock, el miedo y el peso económico de algo que nunca imaginamos vivir.
