Help Support Laura Rogers Battle with Lyme

Hey guys! Many of you know that my sister, Laura Rogers, has been suffering with debilitating symptoms from Lyme Disease for some time. The story starts with a visit to the ER in October. She’d had fever and worst headache of her life for days, which turned out to be encephalitis/meningitis. The blood test revealed Lyme was the culprit. She received treatment for Lyme and she seemed to be getting better. However, two weeks later she developed a myriad of other unusual symptoms including heart racing, chest tightness, heart palpitations and debilitating fatigue. The next months became a nightmare with heart issues, but the worst days were in January when she started to lose vision in her left eye. There have been doctors and specialists of all sorts from Richmond to Maryland trying to help restore Laura’s vision and eradciate the Lyme bacteria. Every test imaginable has been done.

 

For 5 months she did not drive at all; only my mom and Tucker drove her, and they cared for the kids as Laura was unable to function. The kids, of course, have been quite scared about their mom. Anyone who knows La knows she has a gentle soul yet a fighting spirit and only stays down if there is absolutely no way she can get up. Early on she couldn’t even get up at all but after a few weeks, she would force herself up and fake it for the kids.

 

Currently, Laura has a PICC line and she is getting 3 different IV antibiotics a day, 2 oral abx and several other medications and supplements. She continues to have constant doctor appointments and prescriptions, and this journey will be ongoing for an unknown amount of time.

 

Of course, all of this has added up to an exorbitant amount of medical bills, as you can imagine. I’m making this page to try to help Laura, Tucker, Tallulah, and Cyrus feel a slight lift in at least one area from these past six stressful months of not having their wife and mother as they know.
