As many of you know, my daughter Laura has been very unwell since August last year.

Over the course of 8–9 visits to A&E, Laura was repeatedly sent home despite being in unbearable pain. She was told it was anything other than what it sadly turned out to be, given platitudes, and advised to continue taking morphine and other medications. Months passed, even after a lump was first identified in her stomach.

Finally, after a PET scan and biopsy, nearly five months from her first hospital visit and four months after the lump was first seen , Laura was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in her stomach.

Chemotherapy is due to begin within the next 2–3 weeks and will last for a minimum of three months. If the tumour responds well enough, this will be followed by targeted radiotherapy.

These past months have taken an enormous toll on Laura — mentally, physically, and financially. She has been unable to work for over three months and now has only a very limited income. With six dogs and a cat to care for, day to day living costs are becoming overwhelming.

Laura worked hard to build her self-employed grooming business, but due to her illness she has lost most of her clients, through no fault of her own. Even if she is well enough to return to work in the future, rebuilding will take time.

I have never been someone who asks for help, but I am doing this for Laura. She is facing Cancer treatment with courage, but the financial stress is an added burden she doesn’t need during this fight.

Any support , no matter how small , would help ease her worries for a short while and allow her to focus on what truly matters ..getting through treatment and healing.
