Help Support Larry Sykora's Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Hi, my name is Jasmin, and I’m one of Larry’s five daughters.

On December 27th, our world came to a halt. Our Dad, who had just retired two years earlier and was ready to enjoy life, began experiencing severe neck pain that wouldn’t go away. After multiple visits to the doctor and ER, we were hit with devastating news: doctors found a mass in his brain. Further scans revealed a spot on his lung as well.

Dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 adenocarcinoma.

In late January, a PET scan showed that the cancer had spread to his C1 and C5 vertebrae, eroding about a third of his C1 and causing instability. He was immediately admitted to Pasqua Hospital in Regina, where he underwent five rounds of radiation to his spine, followed by stereotactic radiation to treat his brain tumor.

Dad spent seven weeks in hospital and has been through so much — from battling severe pitting edema to fighting infections and managing chronic pain. Now at home, he requires 24/7 care and lives with limited mobility. His fiancée has taken a full-time caregiver role, putting her job and income on hold to be by his side.

Recently, we learned that the cancer has spread further down his spine, leaving him with only half of his C1 vertebrae and in unbearable pain every moment of the day. He had emergency radiation earlier this month and will begin chemotherapy on June 30th.

We are raising funds to help support Dad’s care and ease the financial burden. Your donation will go directly toward:

-Daily living expenses while his fiancée remains off work to care for him

Larry is surrounded by love every single day — not a day goes by where one (or more) of us isn’t sitting by his side. His strength, humor, and grace through all of this have amazed everyone who knows him. He’s a fighter, an inspiration, and most importantly, deeply loved.
