Help Larry as he recovers from Covid complications

Donation protected

Hi, my Step-Father Larry became ill with Covid in January of 2021. After several trips to the ER breathing difficulties and even passing out and falling at home , he was admitted to the hopsital and kept in the ICU in Savannah for over a month before being transported to a recovery hospital closer to home to help with physical therapy and transitioning back to life at home. He spent another 2 weeks in the recovery hospital before being allowed to go home with an oxygen tank . He now has what they call Covid Long Haul Syndrome. He has damage to his lungs, fatigue, shortness of breath and memory issues, trouble walking and difficulties doing everyday tasks.

Before Covid, Larry spent his days as a successful car salesman in Statesboro. He spent his free time fishing and spending time with his wife Sue . Larry has not been able to work since mid January. He only recieved one month of supplemental pay from his employer and has not brought home a paycheck since February 2021. His wife Sue (my mother) is now tasked with being the sole provider of the family-however her income is not enough to cover the house payment and all of the bills of everyday life. Sue has to take time off at work to transport her husband to doctors appointments and take care of him- all while dealing with her own health issues.

Within the last month, Larry had another set back and began noticing his legs were going numb along with burning pain. He started having trouble walking and began using a walker. He was suffering a lot of pain and was becoming unstable on his feet. After visiting the doctor, he was once again admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery for spinal decompression to his cervical spine or risk paralysis . He will need another surgery for decompression of his lower spine as well in the coming months. Recently Larry also found out that he also needs some stents for blocked arteries as well- which should be scheduled after his second back surgery. He is not eligible for workers compensation or unemployment and the process to qualify for disability is a long process that has not even been started.

Larry’s hope is that he will recover and eventually go back to work to support his family and get back to living life. The toll that this has taken on Larry and Sue has been very difficult. They are not ones to ask for help, but I feel we should all come together to help lessen the burden that this has caused. They have so much on their plates and would be such a relief if the financial burdens were eased some. If you can donate to help, it would be so very greatly appreciated. Thank you you all for reading and helping if your able. It is so very much appreciated !
