Help support Lane and his family

Donation protected
UPDATE 1/6/2024:
First, thank you for all the amazing donations that have been posted here and for the acts of love, notes of support, etc. outside of this site. Lane and Angie are both so grateful and I can assure you that it is already taking a big load off their minds. This allows Lane to heal and for Angie to get the rest she needs to keep going through his healing and keeping the business and family going.

As of today, Lane is still in the ICU. While he is showing improvement, there is still concern about his oxygen levels and fever. Angie reports that they can transfer him out of ICU once those two things are markedly improved - hopefully in the next couple of days. She said that, while he sleeps a lot, there are moments when he is awake and very aware, and he is overwhelmed with the support from everyone.

Please know that your support is truly making a difference and is greatly appreciated!

ORIGINAL POST:
Hello - we are the friends and family of Lane and Angie Kalkwarf, and we are reaching out to ask for your help and support.

On January 3, 2024, when Lane should have been celebrating his 52nd birthday, he instead suffered a major health scare and underwent triple bypass surgery. While his surgery was successful, the doctor's say that he has a long road ahead of him - several days in the hospital, lots of cardiac rehab, and two months off of work.

As many of you know, Lane and Angie run a small restaurant in a rural Iowa town, and they also cater for many local events that bring joy to weddings, anniversaries, and other celebrations. It's hard work, but they love serving delicious food and warm smiles while also doing all they can to help the community. Running a small business is hard enough without losing one of the partners to a serious illness, even if only for a few months.

That's why we are asking you to join us in supporting them with a monetary donation. Anything we can do to help them with extra medical and travel expenses, as well as financial support due to loss of work time, will ensure that Lane will be back soon, doing what he loves - bringing wonderful food to the people of their community.

Your generous contribution, at whatever amount, will be greatly appreciated and much needed as Lane recuperates.
