Hey everyone, thanks for taking the time to click in and read this.

The situation: Some of you may know our good friends Landis and Leta, whether you’re friends, family, customers, coworkers, or guildmates! Recently, Landis and Leta have hit some hard times. Landis suffered a stroke last Tuesday morning. From what I hear, he’s doing okay! He’s talking, but he is having trouble walking on his own. He’s being moved to rehab and recovering and will hopefully be out in 10 days. As you can imagine, Leta has her hands very full between keeping on top of his care, juggling home front concerns and finances, not to mention any incoming medical expenses and ongoing “at home” care concerns. When I talked to her last night, she told me that since 6 am Monday (a week before), she’s probably gotten about 9 hours of sleep. Our friends need our help.

About Landis and Leta: I worked with Landis and Leta at one of my first jobs for about 8 years. Landis was one of the highlights of the day. You would come in, deal with the usual stress of working, but your day would come with laughs and good conversation. Landis has a charm to him, a bit of a mischievous but good-hearted sense of humor, he always has great stories to share, and is an excellent listener. Landis and Leta are like the mom and dad that aren’t your mom and dad. They always listen, are very supportive, and they always had my back in rough times, and I am certain that resonates with a lot of you as well. Many of us can only recall good times even outside of work with these two, whether it was getting absolutely clobbered at air hockey, getting portaled to Darnassus instead of Dalaran, or taking down the Lich King with Ronzoe and Mohair. To my Ronin Alliance Alumni, we’ve been challenged by a big raid boss. Leta is doing the best she can to tank it, and she needs all the heals and DPS behind her she can get.

How can you help?: I’ve set up this fundraiser by default to $10,000. Candidly, it’s a guesstimate on what would most readily give them a jump on current and future challenges, but as more information comes my way, we can raise it and go bigger if necessary. While money is the Uno wild card of assistance, we don’t always have it in our hands. There are plenty of other cards we can play. Every little bit of money you can toss at this is a big help, but if you can’t do that, please consider using one of your other cards. In all cases, I would ask that you communicate with Leta to see what would best help them out, but some suggestions would be just being there for them. Visiting or calling them to keep their spirits up (talk to Leta about that first, no doubt they need rest right now), maybe it’s something as simple as helping Leta take care of some errands she can’t focus on right now, or picking up her groceries, or offering to help out around the house and keep things in order. It could be holding vigil for her so that she feels better about getting the rest she desperately needs. Anything that might take some burden off their shoulders while they work through this is big. Keep them in your well wishes and prayers. Lastly, please share this. Share it everywhere you can, to anyone you can think of. Even if you can’t afford to help financially, you might be able to find people who can. Share and promote. Tell people about Landis and Leta and what they mean to you, and make it a community effort!

Where’s your money going?: While I don’t have any specifics on how this money will be used, we know they’ll need it. There is obviously missed work here, medical and care expenses to consider, falling behind on groceries, bills, and medications to account for, as well as self-care concerns for both of them as they deal with the stress of this. Medical crisis situations are always complicated, but we can rest assured, every dime is going to good use. While I have set up this fund, all paths of withdrawal will be set up as direct and fast to them as is made possible by the GoFundMe setup.

Whether you’re a part of their community or a stranger that this happened to resonate with, thank you all so much for your support! We’ll keep this as up to date as much as possible as events unfold so you can see how your support has made a difference!

Leave a message or a memory for them, let them know you’re thinking about them!
