For those who have the honor to know Kristin Brogren, you already know she is one of the most giving, kind, and selfless people you will ever meet. She is always there for everyone, never expecting anything in return. In 2012, her husband Ethan was diagnosed with a severe case of Aplastic Anemia, a rare condition where the bone marrow fails to produce blood cells. He underwent a bone marrow transplant in 2013, and unfortunately, he ended up with severe graft vs. host disease. Ethan also acquired a rare kidney disease called Complement 3 Glomerulopathy (C3G) from the bone marrow transplant. Without hesitation, Kristin provided the ongoing care Ethan needed. Ethan was added to the kidney donor list in 2020, and they anxiously awaited a match. Kristin administered his dialysis treatments at home, learned everything about the medications he required, and even learned how to fix complicated medical equipment when something wasn’t working properly to ensure he would not miss a treatment. She put her whole heart into caring for Ethan and advocating for his best possible care. You can imagine the joy, excitement, and hope they felt when a family friend donated her kidney on his behalf. Her generous donation gave Ethan the opportunity to be moved to the top of the list to finally receive a kidney.

He underwent a kidney transplant in August of 2025. Although it would be a long road to recovery, they had so much hope for all the things they would get to experience together in the future. Sadly, Kristin is now facing an unimaginable loss after Ethan passed away unexpectedly on October 25, 2025.

Ethan’s sudden passing has left Kristin heartbroken and navigating both deep grief and the financial strain of funeral and memorial expenses. We want to help ease some of that burden so she can focus on healing and being surrounded by those who care for her. Kristin struggles to ask for or accept help from others, but we want to come together and show our support for her as she would do for any one of us.
