Kim Beggs is a beloved Yukon musician and songwriter who has spent years sharing her music with audiences across Canada and beyond.

On September 23rd, our dear friend and colleague suffered a fall on her stairs at home. She then travelled out of the Yukon to embark on a cross Canada tour (including a stop at Folk Canada in Hamilton). She was admitted to hospital in Vancouver on October 3rd, and what first appeared to be a minor injury turned out to be much worse.

Kim was diagnosed with a left-side subdural hematoma. She underwent surgery on October 16th, and remains under medical care. Once released from hospital, she will stay with family in Vancouver as she begins the next stage of her recovery. Her medical team has indicated she faces a long road ahead, with significant rehabilitation required.

As an independent artist, Kim has had to cancel a substantial tour and step away from her work to prioritize her health. Like so many independent artists, her livelihood depends on her ability to perform, tour, and create. The loss of this income, combined with the uncertainty of a lengthy recovery, creates significant financial challenges.

We are asking Kim's friends, fans, fellow musicians, and the wider community to help ease some of these pressures. Donations will help cover Kim's living expenses and recovery related costs, allowing her to focus her energy on healing.
