Help Support Kians Brave Journey ❤️
Donation protected
Meet Kian — a kind, bright, and loving 12-year-old boy from North Cornelly, Bridgend, who is facing a tough challenge with incredible courage and positivity.
In April this year, Kian suffered a frightening and prolonged seizure at home - a deeply traumatic moment for his family - that led to the discovery of a high-grade IDH-mutant glioma, a rare form of brain tumor.
He has since undergone emergency brain surgery, and is now beginning a complex treatment journey, supported by his loving family and an amazing team of doctors in the UK, and beyond.
Despite everything, Kian remains his upbeat self - gaming relentlessly, full of energy, laughter, and love. His remarkable strength continues to inspire everyone around him - not least his devoted parents and two wonderfully supportive siblings.
Kian and his family are much-loved members of our local community — known for their kindness, gentle nature, and the laughter they bring to those around them. They're a happy, friendly, and deeply respected family who never ask for anything - but now they need our support!
The road ahead involves specialist treatments, travel for expert consultations, and plenty of time away from work and school for the whole family.
We’re setting up this fundraiser to help ease the financial pressure during this time — so Kian and his family can focus on what truly matters: his treatment, comfort, and making meaningful memories together.
Your donations will go toward:
• Medical-related expenses and travel
• Support for Kian’s day-to-day care
• Helping his parents be by his side without financial worry
• Creating moments of joy for Kian and his siblings along the way
Every donation, no matter how small, helps — and your messages of encouragement mean the world. Together, we can show Kian and his family just how loved and supported they are by their local community!
Thank you for your kind support ❤️
About the Fundraiser: Gavin Harvey
I’m Gavin, Kians uncle. Kians mum Laura is my cousin, and his dad Delvin is a lifelong friend of mine. I launched this fundraiser on behalf of every family member, and every friend, who asked what they could do to help Kian, Delvin, Laura, and Kians siblings Coby and Ella. Kians diagnosis is a very rare one, and his treatment is likely to involve intervention from medical specialists from around the world. Laura has temporarily left her job to provide full-time care and support for Kian, who at this stage of his treatment, is having to travel from North Cornelly to Cardiff Hospital every day. Delvin is also having to take time off work to support his family. As well as Kian they have the lovely Coby and Ella, who will also need to be supported during this difficult time. They will no doubt play an important part in making sure Kian always feels supported, safe, and loved, so their wellbeing needs to be protected and supported too.
I am hoping this fundraiser will help ease any financial pressure on this family that I love so much. Kians seizure happened so suddenly, without warning. And then the diagnosis, shortly followed by complex brain surgery. All in such a short space of time. The family have had no time to prepare for this. Laura and Delvin are bravely moving forward, without hesitation, doing whatever it takes to support their 3 children, especially poorly Kian. On top of stepping away from work thus reducing their regular income, they are about to absorb the costs of supporting a child with a diagnosis and treatment plan. Travel costs, accommodation, loss of wages, specialist equipment for Kian, any home adaptations, making sure Coby and Ellas wellbeing is being protected, enjoying family days out without worrying about affordability. A team of specialists in Canada is already being briefed on Kian’s treatment plan, and we are currently uncertain about the financial demands that support from international experts may entail.
This fundraiser will be crucial to Kians treatment plan. It will ensure his family are able to support him in any way they can, without having to worry about not being able to work.
Thank you to everybody who donates, you really are making such a positive impact on this wonderful family in such challenging times for them. Love to everyone who donates xxxx
