Help Support Kevin's Fight Against CANVAS Syndrome

Hi,

I am Lynda, Kevin's wife of almost 36 years.

As many may not know, Kevin was initially diagnosed with SCA - Spinocerebellar Ataxia in 2019. But in December of 2024, Kevin had a genetic test done, and it came back as CANVAS SYNDROME, which is a noncureable, debilitating illness. We lost Kevin's sister, to complications from this Syndrome.

Kevin and I were farming, raising cattle, and Kevin was working a full-time seasonal job, driving a truck for a local construction company.

In 2020, after Kevin's diagnosis, we decided to quit farming/raising cattle and keep his seasonal full-time job and benefits.

Over the past year, Kevin's symptoms have been getting worse. His coughing, choking, sneezing, speech, swallowing, fine motor skills, balance, and neuropathy have deteriorated to the point where he has become dependent on his cane, walker, and scooter. Also, he's on a nebulizer and Smart Vest to help bring up phlegm. Kevin needs help with such things as buttoning his shirt, pants, tying his shoes at times, carrying items, and assistance in the tub. He's had to start using a spoon for a good portion of his meals. This illness has been devastating to his person.

As of 6/9/25, Kevin was forced into retirement due to his health.

He misses his job and co-workers.

With that being said, we are in need of financial help with medical and monthly bills due to significant loss of income.

I am working my hardest to get SSDI, SSI, Unemployment, etc. Which this all takes time or has limited funds left. Kevin loses his medical insurance, as of 7/1. Not good considering his health needs.

We are also, doctoring and waiting for referrals. Life has gotten busy.

Any funds we receive, will go towards, medical, gas, rent, food, monthly bills.

Any monies, to this point has been used, on above needs. Thank you, so far, for those donations.
