Help support Kevin's fight against Leukemia

Donation protected
In mid-January 2024, Kevin was unexpectedly diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with KMT2A rearrangement. This type of rearrangement is rare and aggressive, making it also tricky to treat. Prior to being diagnosed, Kevin was planning to leave for Punta Cana in two days with his wife, Jessica, and his three daughters. Had he not had this routine appointment two days before his trip, he may have gotten far worse. With the extent of his diagnosis, he was instructed to admit to the hospital immediately to start chemotherapy and further workup. He is currently undergoing extensive chemotherapy in hopes to prepare his body for an upcoming allogeneic stem cell transplant in a few months. This allogeneic stem cell transplant is an important part of his new cancer journey that will help him achieve remission by replacing his current AML cancer cells with healthy donor cells. After receiving his allogeneic transplant, he will be closely followed by his oncologist with numerous appointments, procedures, and lab work. Due to the nature of his cancer journey, he will also continue to be immunocompromised for up to 12 months post-transplant. This is hard for Kevin as he is social and loves spending time with his family and friends, but this will now be very limited. He will also be out of work for at least a year. Kevin loves his job and the people he works with. Knowing that this cancer has already prevented him from doing the things he loves is devastating to say the least. We are hoping we can help him out financially during this stressful time by covering basic expenses.

Most importantly, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He is very loved by so many people and seeing him go through this cancer journey is heartbreaking. As shocked and hurt we have been, we realized that he needs our love and support more than anything. Other helpful ways to support could even be sending him or his wife a text when you’re thinking of them. Whether that be well wishes, or something funny that made you think of him. I know he would love the positive support or the laugh during this rough time. Stay tuned for updates on Kevin.
