Thank you for clicking on the link to support Dezmond!
As many of you may know, Dezmond has been in critical condition at Children’s National Hospital for almost 2 weeks. Dezmond has a genetic disorder called Lysinuric Protein Intolerance (LPI) which has been successfully managed over the years. On Wednesday, July 15th he was hospitalized for vomiting brought on by a medical error. On Thursday doctors found that his small intestine had an abnormal connection to his colon.
Dezmond underwent emergency surgery in response to severe swelling. During the surgery doctors removed part of his intestine and he was placed on a ventilator. He has two more surgeries in the coming week to reconnect his colon and close the stomach and muscles. For now he remains on a ventilator. His recovery will be long and he will require in-home medical care after being released from the hospital.
If you are like me, you have been following Kenya’s updates on Dezmond’s health and praying for his recovery. You have also probably been in awe of Kenya’s strength, now and over the years, as she cares for her sweet boy and navigates life with a sick child.
While we can’t speed Dezmond’s recovery, we can lessen the financial burden that so often accompanies medical crises. Kenya has been unable to work since Dezmond’s hospital admission and her role in his recovery will be crucial over the many weeks and months to come. Please consider a donation to support Kenya & family during this deeply stressful time.
*Kenya was told by doctors that Dezmond’s recovery thus far has been a medical miracle and she is asking for your continued thoughts and prayers*
