Help Support Keith Brewer’s recovery from a stroke
If you know Keith Brewer, aka Foot, of Taunton, he is a very well known man. He is one out of nine children of the late Mary Brewer, which almost everyone knew of her or knows one of her nine children. Whether you have known Keith for a lot of years or a short period of time, you know that he is always happy, in good spirits, and making someone laugh. He is a very down to earth, good wholeheartedly person. He never likes to ask for help when and if he needs it, he is very independent and strong-willed. My whole life, my father has always helped others out and put others before himself including his job. He has always been a hard worker, worked two to three jobs most of my life even up until a year and a half ago he worked two jobs. He has raised my sister and me almost completely on his own as a single father. He has done everything in his power to keep a roof over our heads, food in the house, and clothes on our backs from birth until we were able to do it ourselves. He has always been a provider.
On December 22, 2020, my father Keith suffered from a Hemorrhagic stroke. The stroke caused him to become hospitalized for four weeks now. As it is a serious health condition, he requires inpatient care and has become incapacitated. He has suffered a large brain bleed that has resulted in dysphasia, plegia of his left side, and cognitive issues. He will need extensive rehabilitation and 24-hour care for several months going forward. He has a long challenging road of recovery ahead of him. We are truly blessed he is still here with us and has progressed even if just a little from the beginning being in the Neurology ICU, put on a ventilator a couple of days after, and a feeding tube. My family and I are looking to raise money to help with any medical encounters that will be upcoming. His health insurance will only cover 60 days of inpatient rehabilitation and the doctors predict it could take anywhere from 6+ months for him to recover, even with partial recovery. If the rehabilitation process becomes too much of a financial burden on our family, we will have to move him back into his home and need to make arrangements for his home to meet his required needs at that point in time. Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy are needed based on his serious condition.
From what we have researched, it could cost over $1,000 per day at an inpatient rehab facility, and we do not know at this time how many more days he will need it once the insurance is done covering the initial 60 days. I will be updating this story when we find out additional information.
So any additional medical expenses after handling the rehabilitation will be going to the following:
He will need his home to be handicap accessible which is going to need his porch to be redone and updated with a ramp add-on to get in and out of his home safely and appropriately with a wheelchair or a walker at some point in time. The estimated cost for a new porch with an added ramp is approximately $11,000.
Any additional money that is raised will help him stay afloat on his bills without suffering financial failure.
His current debt a month is about $3,000.
Again, this story will be updated as much as possible as I receive updates from several doctors and therapists.
We understand that this is a lot that he needs some help and support with and I would personally give my father my last.
Any support and help would be deeply appreciated from the bottom of our hearts, my family and I.
Thank you for your donation, anything helps!
