This is something I never thought I would have to do. A few years ago, after a severe car accident, my daughter Kayleigh was airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital for treatment after discovering a burst mass in her brain that is about the same size in diameter as a quarter. They said they were shocked that she could walk, talk, think rationally or cognitively, or have motor function. They wanted to leave it alone in hopes that it may never get bigger. Well, it has gotten bigger and has a lesion. She has trouble with balancing and vision changes, as well as awful headaches with vomiting regularly. Emotions are all over the place right now after finding out it is absolutely necessary to remove the mass. It is benign but has grown enough to compress all the crucial parts of the brain, and the leak is causing symptoms they described as non-viral meningitis. We both will need a minimum of one month off work to get through the healing process. It’s brain surgery, and all either of us do is work. She’s still trying to process this. In order to have time to prepare and aftercare, we need help. I’m trying so hard to get ahead financially to be prepared, but it is like one step forward and two steps back. I’ve never asked for help financially because I am a very hard worker. But I can’t do it alone this time. I need more time with my daughter and she needs me. Anything helps. The set amount on here was a suggestion from this app; I am not expecting anything close to that, and I will do everything possible to keep trying to come up with what I can. It’s a lot of time off, and the stress of trying to come up with two months of money for bills is really overwhelming. I appreciate anyone who even decides to read this. We are still jumping through the hoops of getting this approved by insurance. It’s expected there will be a lot of things that aren’t covered. So medical bills are going to be stacking up. The doctors offices are all working together to prove the necessity of this surgery. They don’t want to wait until it’s an emergency because it could be a mess. All the time off of work jumping from Dr to Dr has been hard financially, which is why it’s hard to keep up. We do not know if they are going to completely deny us the surgery. This is a big part of the reason we haven’t jumped in sooner. Pray to God we don’t need emergency surgery.
