Help Support Kayla’s Medical Journey
Our family has always believed in showing up for others. Over the years, we’ve helped organize fundraisers for medical needs, delivered food baskets to grieving families, and volunteered wherever we were needed. Asking for help is not something that comes easily to us, but right now, our daughter Kayla’s medical journey has brought us to a place where support from others would make a real difference.
Our daughter Kayla, 30 years old, has autism, ADHD, and OCD, and for the past 11 months, she has been battling a rare and aggressive esophageal stricture. She has endured nine surgeries so far, with another series of weekly procedures ahead. These treatments are her best chance to avoid an extremely invasive surgery that would permanently alter her quality of life.
Even with Medicare insurance, the financial burden is overwhelming. Medicare does not cover everything, leaving Kayla with a $1,500–$2,000 balance after each procedure. This does not include the significant travel expenses for frequent trips to Minneapolis or other hospitals, overnight lodging, meals on the road, and the loss of work time for her parents, who must take several days off for each procedure to drive and care for her.
Your support will go directly toward:
• Out-of-pocket medical costs from each procedure
• Travel expenses for weekly and follow-up appointments
• Lodging and meals during hospital stays
Kayla’s journey has been long and difficult, but she continues to face it with incredible strength. If you’re able to help—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping her in your thoughts—it would mean the world to our family.
Thank you for taking the time to read Kayla’s story and for any kindness you can extend to her. We will update her journey as we proceed.
