We are fundraising for Kaybree, a bright and beautiful 10-year-old with a huge heart and an even bigger passion for cheerleading and dance. Anyone who knows Kaybree knows her contagious smile, her determination, and her love for life—even in the face of challenges no child should have to endure.
About a year ago, Kaybree began to experience pain in her left hip and leg, but only at night. That pain developed into a limp. At first, it seemed like something small, maybe just growing pains or overuse from competitive cheerleading. But as time went on, her leg began to weaken, and the muscle atrophy became severe. After doing physical therapy weekly and seeing no major improvements, it led to blood work, X-rays, multiple MRIs (with and without contrast), and finally a biopsy. The biopsy was performed under sedation by a Pediatric Interventional Radiologist in Billings, MT.
Later that day, it was presented that it looked like primary bone lymphoma. Kaybree was then referred to an orthopedic oncology specialist. She braved and underwent two additional bone biopsies. When the first one came back inconclusive, she had to undergo a second exploratory surgery where they took multiple samples from the core of the bone. This biopsy resulted in Kaybree having to use a walker for several days due to the risk of fracturing her bone.
After an emotional and exhausting journey, Kaybree was diagnosed with CRMO (Chronic Recurrent Multifocal Osteomyelitis), a rare and painful inflammatory bone disease. She is now working closely with a rheumatologist in Missoula and will continue to undergo full body scans and blood work every four months as doctors monitor her progress and determine the best long-term treatment to help her reach remission.
Kaybree has shown incredible resilience, courage, and positivity. She continues to smile, dream big, and inspire everyone around her—proof that her spirit is stronger than any diagnosis.
While the family does have medical insurance, the company that Kaybree’s dad works for was bought out mid-year, resulting in a change to their medical coverage. They are now facing the challenge of meeting two separate deductibles. In addition to these medical expenses, they have incurred ongoing expenses for gas, hotel rooms, etc., in order to travel to all of her appointments around the state. Alex and Ryan (Kaybree’s parents) have been working incredibly hard to provide Kaybree with comfort and strength throughout this process while facing the daunting financial stress that it has placed on their family.
Our goal is to help raise funds to contribute to the rising financial burden that they are facing. Financial contributions will go towards the significant out-of-pocket expenses for all of Kaybree’s treatment and testing; as well as the travel costs associated with getting her to all of her appointments.
