Nothing in the world could have ever prepared us for Karl’s diagnosis in late October of last year. As he was recovering from what his orthopedic surgeon thought was carpal and cubital tunnel in his right hand and elbow, it turned out to be a glioblastoma tumor the size of a walnut resting in the left side frontal lobe of his brain. When local oncologists told him it was inoperable and to start getting our affairs in order, we immediately decided to talk to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. With that whirlwind decision, Karl and I basically packed up the car, left our beloved fur babies and home with our good friends, and headed down south to MDA to give Karl the best optimal outcome to this horrific disease. 3 1/2 months later, with 4 hospitalizations in between, we are now back home in Bedford, trying to make sense of our lives again.
So many prayers and words of positivity and affirmation have been made on our behalf, we can never say thank you enough to all of our dear friends and loved ones who have been with us every ugly step of the way, we love you ALL! Karl will stay a patient under MDA, but he will be receiving care locally as well through UTSouthWestern Simmons Dallas Hospital. As you can imagine, the medical bills and expenses are becoming more and more as time moves on and treatments continue. Unfortunately, Karl is unable to work right now due to the residual effects of the tumor causing right-side paralysis to his hand and leg. If you can help out in any way, we would greatly appreciate your gracious donation. Your support means the world to us during this difficult time. #PittStrong
