We are raising funds to support Karina, a hardworking and loving mother from El Salvador, who was unexpectedly detained by ICE on Friday while she was attending a scheduled immigration appointment related to her case.

Karina has always complied with her immigration process and was doing exactly what she was asked to do. Instead, she was taken into custody, leaving behind her husband and her 7-year-old son, who is devastated and struggling to understand why his mom cannot come home.

This sudden detention has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on her family. Communication with Karina from the detention facility is extremely expensive, with phone calls costing a significant amount each time she is able to speak with her loved ones. Staying connected is crucial for her son’s emotional well-being and for her family as they navigate this painful and uncertain situation.

Funds raised will go directly toward:

• Phone and communication costs so Karina can stay in touch with her son and husband

• Immediate family support for basic needs during this crisis

• Legal and related expenses as her family works to support her case
