Help Support Karen Hoxie in Her Fight Against Breast Cancer

Donation protected
Please help our coworker Karen Hoxie as she bravely faces the battle against breast cancer.

On April 15, 2025, our dear coworker Karen Hoxie was diagnosed with breast cancer. Karen has been a compassionate and dedicated CNA at Westgate Center for Health and Rehab for the past five years. She has spent her days caring for our residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, mental health conditions, and more—offering comfort, kindness, and dignity to those most in need.

Karen is not only a caregiver—she’s also a devoted mother to two adult sons, Noah and Christopher, who have been a big help and a source of strength during this difficult time. She lives alone with her sweet cat, Bear, who brings her comfort and companionship.

This past year has been especially hard—Karen suffered a serious shoulder injury that left her out of work and used up her PTO. Just as she was starting to heal and regain her strength, she was given this devastating diagnosis.

She is now preparing to undergo aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, with doctors expecting her to be out of work for the next six months. During this time, we want to do everything we can to ensure she doesn’t have to worry about the financial burden of everyday expenses—so she can focus solely on her health and recovery.

Karen has a loving support system, including her three sisters who will be by her side during treatment. And she has all of us—her coworkers, her residents, and the entire Westgate family—rallying behind her.

We are reaching out to our greater community to ask for your help. Whether it’s $5 or $500, every donation goes directly to helping Karen with rent, food, medical bills, and other essentials while she undergoes treatment.

Karen has given so much of herself to others—now it’s our turn to give back to her.

Let’s help her come back stronger than ever. She’s not just our coworker—she’s family.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

With gratitude,
The staff from The Westgate Center for Health and Rehab
