Hello my name is Alice and I never thought I would be writing something like this, but I would like to share my Partner Justin's story.
My partner is a thoughtful, kind, caring person who always puts others first especially his children. He was always fit and healthy, keeping himself active by going to the gym regularly and having a physically demanding job as an electrical contractor, until the day his life was turned upside down.
In September 2022 he started to feel more tired than normal and was experiencing pains in his chest, shoulder and throat.
He visited his GP surgery on two occasions over about a six week period, but his symptoms were dismissed both times as strained muscles and simply over doing it.
Unfortunately in November 2022, just days after his last GP visit he experienced what specialists called a massive heart attack which caused irreversible damage.
Luckily his youngest son was at home with him at the time and he called for an ambulance. Paramedics promptly arrived, secured Justin and transported him to a specialist hospital and straight into the operating theater which saved his life. we will all be forever thankful to the paramedics, surgeons and doctors for all that they did that day, but that was just the start of a long road ahead.
Since that day Justin has had Five surgical procedures on his heart, one of which was to place an Implantable Cardio Defibrillator into his chest which paces his heart in the event of a high unstable rhythm and also shocks the heart if it stops completely.
He has now been advised that his heart capacity is only 20% despite previous operations and medications. Any physical activity leaves him exhausted and doctors have reached the limit of what they can do with medication alone.
Justin is now waiting to be put on the urgent heart transplant list.
Despite all of this Justin has carried on working in his job as an electrical subcontractor as and when he could , as well as making sure that he has done all he can to support the people around him. But last November after one of his cardiology appointments it became apparent that his body and heart was struggling to cope. he was rushed in for an urgent scan where it was explained that the situation had gotten a lot worse. A heart transplant seems the only way moving forward.
A heart transplant has its own set of challenges not only physical and mental, but now financial ones too.
We are currently seeking help from specialist consultants with little to no help from government schemes, and the time in which it takes for them to process this, has caused an enormous amount of financial strain.
Any help of donations will give us more time, and ease the day to day struggles whilst he is unable to work and in recovery.
Whether through a kind donation, a share, or words of much needed encouragement and support. We are reaching out to ask for your kindness to help in this very difficult time, and importantly give Justin a real fighting chance, and for me personally to have more time with my amazing partner.
Thank you so much just for reading and showing support. And a very special Thank you for all of those who have already shared and donated ! It means the world to us
