Hello, my name is Julia and I have Ovarian Cancer. I have just today, been scheduled for Surgery on November 13th, to remove the large cancerous growth (over 4 inches). I am scared. This started on August 15 when I was jolted awake with an extreme pain in my abdomen. I was silly and decided if it still bothered me after work, I'd go to Urgent care. After work my wife took me straight there. My symptoms proved to be beyond their scope of care, so they sent me to a free standing ER. They pulled me back rather quickly after intake, and gave me a CT scan. The scan revealed a lot of free fliud and blood in my abdomen as well as a 2 inch mass next to what they thought was a ruptured dermoid cyst on my ovary. I was then transferred to a hospital. At the hospital, the first surgeon on duty said I'd be getting emergency surgery because of what he saw on my scan. He was going off shift so he handed me off to the next surgeon on duty. He said I needed surgery as well, then said he was looking into a different procedure that wouldn't require completely opening me up. After some time, they took me up to pre-op. After I was all checked in, the doctor came in right before I was to be wheeled into the OR suite and said I'm stable and to discharge me. He told me I needed to follow up with a surgical Gynecologist instead. After this horrible night, it then took me about 3 weeks to be seen by my Doctor. He sent me for more scans, tests and blood work. Those revealed that the mass looked cancerous and had grown significantly. It was now over 4 inches. Today I was finally seen by my Gynecological Oncology specialist. I need surgery, and it needs to be done rather quickly. I have been told I'll have another scan and they're checking my blood work again to see if any of the cancer markers have gone up since 3 weeks ago when they were taken. I am a Groomer and while out of work am unable to pay my household bills, medical and living expenses. I am initially expected to be out of work for 4-8 weeks. This is best case scenario. This could end up being more. Unfortunately, she does not know her exact course of action until I'm open on the table and she's removed it and sent it to pathology to determine how she's moving forward with my surgery. I have never had to rely on, or ask anyone for financial help before. I have worked and payed my own bills since I was 16 years old. I am also the sole provider for my wife and I. She's a disabled veteran with partial paralysis of her arms among other issues. We recently started our own little business about a year and a half ago and my savings went into starting it. I am truly unable to help myself in this situation beyond trying to get back to work as early as possible. I don't want to lose my home, my dogs, or everything else I have spent my entire adult life building. I survived my abusive childhood, worked hard and pulled myself out of where I grew up and everything I went through. I don't want this to be what breaks me. Your support, whether through donating or sharing, means the world to my wife and I. Please help in any way you can. With your support, I can get through this. Thank you.
