Help support Juan with his battle against ALS

Hello friends, family, and whoever may be reading this. As most of you know, in 2017, my brother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS - also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease). ALS is a terribly devastating degenerative neuromuscular disease with no known cure. Patients with ALS lose the ability to swallow, breathe, speak and move. Approximately 80% of people with ALS die within 2-5 years of being diagnosed. Some will live ten years or longer (Stephen Hawking, for example, but he was a very rare case). Estimates of annual healthcare costs for patients with ALS are around $200,000.

Shortly after being diagnosed, he lost control over his hands and arms. Today Juan has lost nearly all control over his body; he can only move his eyes. He requires around-the-clock intensive care. His family is in need of a handicap accessible home, a wheelchair, a hospital bed, and a vehicle that will fit his wheelchair. Juan only leaves the house when he goes to the hospital because he does not have the proper accommodations. In his words, "I’m spending my last days trapped in my house. I would love to go outside to get some air. It's been seven years with this illness, and I still have no lift, bed, or working wheelchair." Juan is a Christian and believes that his faith in Christ has allowed him to live so long. There is no cure for his illness. We hope to help improve his quality of life and help his wife with their daily expenses and the various costs associated with ALS treatment.
