Hello, my name is Josh Todd. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and consider supporting my GoFundMe.
Like many Americans, my wife and I work full-time jobs, pay our bills on time, and live frugally. We don’t take annual vacations, rarely dine out, and prioritize cooking at home. We share our simple, peaceful life with our beloved animals, and we do our best to be responsible and kind members of our community.
In late December, I began experiencing severe medical issues and was diagnosed with a fistula. After multiple doctor and surgeon appointments, I finally have a scheduled surgery date on February 27th—two months after the issues began.
I initially took out a CareCredit card with a $3,000 limit to cover a $1,400 CT scan, thinking that was my maximum out-of-pocket expense. However, I recently learned that my maximum out-of-pocket cost is actually $9,000. I was informed by the hospital that I need to pay $4,100 upfront for the surgery, with additional bills from the anesthesiologist and other medical services to follow.
After covering our monthly expenses, we have only $100-200 left each month, and our $1,700 in savings is reserved for emergency mortgage payments. My mortgage alone is $2,500. To help cover these costs, I am selling my Magic: The Gathering card collection (estimated at $1,000), woodworking tools, electric skateboard, and any other items of value.
I am reaching out to ask for help during this challenging time.
A little more about me: I work for a company that provides affordable cervical cancer screening to developing countries. I take daily walks with my dog, during which I pick up trash to help keep our community clean. My wife and I don’t drink or party; we simply enjoy our hobbies and quiet evenings at home. I believe in kindness, always hold doors open for others, and address people respectfully.
Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
