Hi, my name is Ember. My brother Justin and I are fundraising for our brother Josh and his family.

 

Josh was diagnosed with COVID back on August 20th.

 

On August 26th, the intense coughing from covid (along with his asthma) caused him to cough so violently that he fractured his spine. A few days later, he went to the hospital but was sent home with muscle relaxers (they didn't even X-Ray his back at this time!).

 

After a few days at home of not being able to move, his condition worsened, his heart rate was dangerously high, his fever was above 105 and his oxygen was dipping below 90. So, they called an ambulance to the house to take him to the hospital (because he couldn't walk to the car).

 

On August 30th he was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Covid-Pneumonia.

He was put on oxygen and pain medicine (for his back). They finally did a MRI about 5 days later, showing the fracture in his spine. This injury has made his recovery very difficult and ongoing.

 

After 12 days in the hospital, he was sent home with a back brace and oxygen. We thought he was on the mend.

 

He seemed ok, but after 5 days, he started going downhill again. Every time he tried to stand up, his oxygen would drop (dangerously low). One day he said "Oh man, I can't breathe again, but I could breath yesterday?!" He reached out to his doctor, and with Josh's oxygen dropping so low (with the maximum amount of oxygen they could give at him at home), he was told he needed to go back to the hospital. That was Friday, September 17.

 

He is currently in the hospital. His pneumonia is still there, and they are looking into doing a Kyphoplasty procedure (for his spine). If they do this procedure, it could relieve his back pain enough to give him the best change of recovery from his covid pneumonia.

 

Josh, Kristen and Embry are in need of financial support, this is where we come in.

 

Josh has been out of work for over 5 weeks (and ran out of PTO almost right away), and Kristen has not been able to work during this time either.
