Help Support Jose's Home Recovery

Please help support Amelia, Jose, and their three sons, Alex, Jayden, and Daniel. Amelia and Jose are both hardworking, loving, and caring young parents who strive to make their family life their priority.

On the night of February 4, 2022, Jose arrived home after playing volleyball and running a few errands when he told Amelia he didn't feel right. When he went to the store, he started experiencing dizziness, blurred vision, confusion, and numbness on one side of his face. Amelia checked his blood pressure, and the numbers were abnormally high, so she decided to drive him to the hospital. After a few hours, they were told the devastating news: he had suffered a stroke (cerebrovascular accident) and a dissection of his left carotid artery.

It didn't seem possible. Jose is a young 42 years old, a healthy and active person, and is greatly involved in his sons’ lives. The news was devastating for Amelia and their boys, who were heartbroken to learn what had happened to their dad.

Jose is a humble person who only agreed to this GoFundMe so he can continue his recovery at home during this crucial time without the financial strain of trying to go back to work before he's physically ready. Without the savings to comfortably allow the family to be at home together, Amelia has had to make the hard decision of returning to work sooner than they hoped. Since the stroke, Jose has struggled with mild aphasia, cognitive functions, math skills, and exhaustion. With rehab and home care from his family, Jose is headed in the right direction, although his road to recovery will be a long one.

Upon learning about their current situation and determination, we hope you will feel inspired to help. The best thing for the family at present is to assist them financially as they navigate through this challenging and long journey. The funds raised through this GoFundMe will allow Jose and his family the gift of time, relief from some of the stress that stroke survivors and their families suffer, peace of mind, groceries, and food delivery. Although they can’t understand why or how this terrifying event happened, they are keeping a positive outlook on the future.

Thank you in advance for your compassion.
