On what should have been one of the proudest moments of his season, the Reserve Grade Grand Final, our teammate and friend Jone Waqaliva suffered a devastating leg break while playing for the Bombala Blue Heelers.

Jone, originally from Fiji, came to Australia chasing his love for rugby league and work. He has quickly become a much-loved member of our club and community – always with a smile on his face, humble in nature, and giving his all on the field.

Sadly, this serious injury now means Jone is unable to work for the next 3–4 months while he recovers. With no family here in Australia, no other source of income, and with the NRL insurance providing very little support, Jone is facing a very tough road ahead.

We are reaching out to our community, friends, and the wider rugby league family to rally around him in this difficult time. Every little bit will go directly towards helping Jone with his living costs, medical expenses, and ensuring he can focus fully on his recovery without the added stress of financial hardship.
