Help Support Jon and His Family During His Recovery
Donation protected
UPDATE from Mom! - I wanted to write this update to everyone. I want to say with a heartfelt thank you for everyone’s help and support. You have helped us square all of Jon’s accounts so I didn’t have to take on that extra expense, provided for much needed car repairs so Sheyla could drive safely to the hospital, paid for 4 months of childcare for Monty so we could be at the hospital everyday. You all fed us, warmed us with coffee, and helped offset travel expenses for much needed support. Not to mention the crazy parking costs that we didn’t need to be angry or scared about(even though we were!). You helped us clean and take much needed breaks. It was a mountain that was only overcome with your support.
Now Jon is finally home! We are in a whole new world and an exciting part of this journey. We are past the days of watching neurostorming, fevers and respiratory distress. We are looking forward to having Jon with us to join us as we cook, garden, and clean again. Jon has leveled up to a minimally conscious plus stage and now engaging in outpatient Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy. Though he is not fully conscious, we can find contentment as he communicates with pointing fingers and interacting with us and the world.
I know that many have asked us to let you know when there is a need so here it is. We have and will have on going significant out of pocket costs to get Jon the accommodations to the house and supplies that insurance won’t pay for. If you enjoy a long run on sentence AND are interested in helping us with the cost of his wheelchair ramp, air flow mattress for skin support, special pillows and sheets for his bed, sling for bathing, a ton of pads, gloves and wipes, and feeding tube formula that contains real food and not just corn starch and canola oil, and all the other unseen items we don’t know about yet, it would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you again for your love and support!! For checking in with us and listening to all our cares. We are holding you in our hearts and pray for all of you and your families. We are looking forward to the day when we are whole and healed!
On October 7th, 2024, my brother Jon was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident in Seattle, Washington. He was hit by a truck while riding his motorcycle and has sustained life-threatening injuries, leaving him on life support in critical condition. While Jon is a fighter, his medical care team have told us it is too early to tell if he will survive this or not and if he does his recovery will take at least a year, during which he won’t be able to work or provide for his family.
Our mother, Angie, and Jon’s wife, Sheyla, have been spending long days and nights at the hospital to support him and make medical decisions. They will continue to be in and out of the hospital for the foreseeable future. As the weeks turn into months, the financial strain on the family will only increase. Jon’s inability to work means they’ll need help covering basic living expenses, and we’re raising funds to ease that burden so his family can focus on his recovery.
The funds raised will help with:
• Monthly Bill Expenses: Covering rent, utilities, and other essential household bills while Jon is out of work.
• Food Expenses: Providing for Jon’s mom and wife as they stay close to the hospital to support him, as well as for his son.
• Travel Costs: Covering the frequent parking cost and travel to and from the hospital so family can be by Jon’s side during his recovery.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to support Jon and his family during this long and challenging recovery period. Your donation will provide vital assistance, ensuring that Jon’s family has one less worry as they focus on his survival and healing.
We are deeply grateful for any contribution, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this page with others. Thank you for standing with us and helping Jon through this difficult time.
*If friends or family want to reach out, please reach out to me, Ceara. Mom is already very overwhelmed with Monty and making medical decisions every day as Jon’s condition changes moment to moment. Thank you.
