Hello, my name is Michelle. My husband is John. Several years ago, my husband went to a neurosurgeon due to some issues with his neck. He was told he needed surgery or he would end up in a wheelchair. So, he had cervical fusion completed. Afterwards, John was in a neck brace for 12 weeks and then went through physical therapy.
Shortly after this, John started to decline. He’s lost the ability to turn his head side to side and his head is falling where his chin is lowering to his chest. Over the last few years this continues to worsen. He has also been told by the original doctor and pain management that there was nothing that could be done, and the local neurosurgeon told him no one would touch his neck. So, John has been living his life with limited mobility and pain.
Recently, we decided to see another doctor for a second opinion. Well, guess what, we found out John can be fixed. However; this fix is significantly extensive. We did find out about some issues and concerns with the way the first surgery was handled and I hate that for John. He is in good spirits though because he has earthly hope! This surgery will give John some significant improvement in his quality of life. The surgeon that will be doing the procedure is in Mobile (an hour from us). This surgery is at least 12 hours long and will require a difficult hospital stay and probable rehab after. Then home health and more physical therapy. It gonna be tough for him and it’s gonna be hard. We don’t know for sure how long he will be out of work.
We are asking mainly for prayers to get John through this grueling surgery and recovery. I am also asking if you have it in your hearts to bless our family with a financial gift, All funds will go to medical expenses not covered by insurance, expenses for me to stay with him in Mobile, and to cover loss of wages so we can cover household bills. This will also cover his insurance premiums that we will have to pay out of pocket. This surgery would literally be life changing for him. I prayer is that he can hold that head up again with that big smile on his face!!
