Our hearts have been shattered by the news that John has been diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. At just 34 years old, his life has changed in an instant.

Just weeks ago, he was living his life, making plans for the future, Traveling and working his job. Now, he is facing the fight of his life.

He has started treatment at Roswell Park a couple weeks ago and on August 4th, John will be meeting with specialists at John Hopkins to determine whether he is a candidate for a clinical trial that could provide another treatment option. If he is accepted and moves forward with this treatment, he will need to temporarily relocate to Baltimore for 30 days to receive care.

While we are incredibly hopeful, this opportunity also comes with significant financial challenges. The treatment being considered is a secondary treatment option and is not covered by insurance, meaning the costs including treatment, temporary housing, travel, meals, and other related expenses would need to be paid entirely out of pocket.

As he begins this journey, we want him to focus on what matters most: fighting this disease and not worrying about how he’ll afford the care that could give him hope.

Medical expenses not covered by insurance.
